About Us

Armstrong Veterinary Osteopathy is the only osteopathic veterinary mobile service in the Maritimes (or dare we say Canada?).

How can we make this claim? Dr. Kayte Armstrong is both a qualified veterinarian and an osteopathic manual practitioner (she has her qualifications to treat humans). This combination has led to a unique and effective approach to the application of osteopathy to animal species.

In fact, Dr. Armstrong developed and delivers the Graduate Diploma in Animal Osteopathy (GDAO) to graduate human practitioners, through the Canadian Academy of Animal Osteopathy (associated with the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy)

Dr. Armstrong previously ran a similar practice in Ontario, and was routinely seeing over 100 horses per month, and a variable number of cats, dogs, pigs, sheep, goats, ducks, geese…. well, you get the idea! She is now delighted to be offering services to the people of Nova Scotia, with the help of fellow osteopathic practitioners Kara Muhlhausen, MOMSc, GDAO, and Jessica Stackhouse, MOMSc, GDAO.

Kayte graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario. A keen interest in movement and its relationship to health led her to osteopathy and all it can offer to improve the well-being of others. She is also delighted to call Nova Scotia home!

In addition to clinical work, Kayte also teaches anatomy in her role as Professor of Anatomy and Palpation for the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy.

When not treating clients or teaching, Kayte enjoys sword fighting, playing golf, and riding her motorcycle… though usually not all at once!

Jessica is a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy located in Hamilton, Ontario. As a kid, it was her love of animals, particularly horses, that sparked her interest in anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology. This led her to a career in Osteopathy, which meant she could help both people and animals alike. Jessica is also a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Animal Osteopathy.

Outside of treating patients, Jessica also assists with teaching palpation at the Canadian Academy of Animal Osteopathy.
